Wildlife photography career?

I looovvveee taking pictures of nature & animals and although i'm pursuing a major in zoology, i think maybe a minor in wildlife photography would be a good idea b/c i love the outdoors & taking pictures. I think it would be amazing to work for national geographic or discovery one day..any idea on how i would start out, or how i could sell my pictures and get introduce them to major companies?
